Garth Brooks in Concert!

Garth Brooks came out of retirement and Randy was so excited to go see him.  I was a Garth Brooks fan but I was an even bigger George Strait fan and thought I didn't need to spend the money to see Garth sing, so Randy went without me with some friends.    He came back and said I had to go!  He got out his old Garth Brooks box set of CD's and we started listening to all of them, bringing back memories from the good ole days, and I agreed to go!

Wow!!  I can see why he was Entertainer of the Year so many times back then... because he still had it!!  It was the most amazing concert.  I'm so glad Randy made me go!

We also brought along our friends!  Here I am with Nellie Jones.

This was actually Blake's first concert!  He chose a good concert to start off with!  (Blake, Nellie, Shallan and Randy) Such a great night with great friends!  Yes, Randy went and saw Garth twice, but he would have gone a third time in a heartbeat!

Ashton's Tonsil Surgery

Ashton's allergies had started to get really bad so I had been taking her to see Avery's allergist, Dr. Purser.  One thing Dr Purser noticed was how big Ashton's tonsils were!

She said they were so big they were almost touching!  Although Ashton never really had strep throat, she did get bronchitis almost every year.

She also snored a lot and was a very restless sleeper.  Dr. Purser felt like some of her allergy problems probably had more to do with her tonsils, so she sent us off to see Dr. Bruce Hudkins, an ENT doctor in Tulsa.

He agreed that the tonsils had to go!  He also told us that she might get a huge growth spurt after this.  Ashton has always been on the small side but I didn't realize that her tonsils could be to blame for this.  She wasn't getting the good sleep she needed.

So we scheduled a surgery at the Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital just across the street from where he worked.

It was a really nice hospital with super sweet staff that made us all feel very comfortable.  And even gave Ashton a sweet new friend who she named Mr. Cuddles.

Ashton was super brave.  I think I was nervous enough for the both of us.  This was our first child who would undergo surgery.  We have been very blessed with healthy children.

Ashton did amazing and the staff was super impressed with how good she did coming out of the anesthesia.  She hurt, no doubt about it, but there were kids going crazy and crying horribly which I'm sure made everything worse.  They gave her this cute Hello Kitty popsicle which she probably took only three licks of.  (She doesn't remember it at all.)

And then it was time to go home!

She got some beautiful flowers from Scott and Ashley Petty.

And lots of snuggles from mom and dad!

This was just before she woke up after surgery.

Recovery was long and hard.  I think she ended up staying home for 2 weeks.

But once she started feeling a little better, she did some sweets things for her siblings.  She helped me bake some cookies for Addie and Austin.

And left Addie this sweet note on their white board.
