Living on Petty time

Scott and Ashley Petty moved to Bartlesville this year.  Scott took a job with Phillips 66 and they moved away from their family in AZ.  We quickly took them in as our family.

We found out that Ash was a hairstylist, and we were excited to get some help!  Randy had been trying to give Austin the new "soccer hair" that was becoming popular but wasn't looking quite right. Ashley took over and made Austin the most handsome boy in all of Bartlesville!

Not only Austin, but the rest of us as well!!  Randy is a huge teaser and Ashley caught on really quickly and gave it right back to him.  In her words, she brought "Randiva" out of the 90's.

Arizona and Oklahoma became "framily" and we couldn't go a day without each other!

We also shared a love for food!  We ate out often together to catch up on our days.  We had our few favorites to pick from:  Frank and Lola's,

Sushi One,

or HideAway Pizza!

And every once in a while we would chose Chili's.

But our favorite was just hanging out at home, eating "Scashleys" homemade french toast and buttermilk syrup, watching football and playing cards.  Oh, and definitely BlueBell ice-cream!

Scott and Ashely were exactly what we needed!  They were that couple that were old enough that we could relate to and had so much fun with but that were young enough that the kids could relate to and they had so much fun with!

Our kids adored them and they took our kids in as if they were their second parents, but WAY cooler!

They would go with us to their sporting events.  This particular time we were in Tulsa cheering on A-VA-RY!!

Avery said we needed to adopt Ashley so she could be her older sister.  Plus her name already started with an "A" so it was meant to be!

Scotty-Doo was always so much fun to play with.

Austin loved having one more guy around to play football with!

Ashley would always keep the girls pretty with their hair and nails,

and Scott would let the girls keep him pretty as well!

Avery finally had that older sister that had cool clothes she could borrow and even got Ashley's hand-me-downs!

And Scott let the girls borrow his clothes too!  hahaha!!

We have so many amazing memories from our less than year with the Petty's.  In fact, it was hard to imagine life without them.  They will always have our heart!

Scott's job moved him from Bartlesville to Houston in less than a year, which normally doesn't happen.  When we heard the news we were all devastated.

We had gotten so used to them being with us all the time that it was like a family member moving away.

I don't make new friends very easily, let alone bring them completely into our lives, but it seemed we needed them as much as they needed us!

There's just some people that you meet and you feel like you've known them forever, maybe in another world.  That was the Petty's to us.

As soon as we heard the news that they were moving we tried to spend every moment we could with them.

When they sold their house, we moved them into ours.  We tried to tell them they could just live with us!

They were leaving just before Christmas, so we had our own Christmas together.

Presents and all!

And one last FRAMILY picture!  We miss them like crazy but they will always be part of our family!
