Addie's Pumpkin Patch Fieldtrip

Awww- the good ole pumpkin patch. I just never get sick of going out to this place! This year was Addie's year for her first field trip to the pumpkin patch.Ashton and I met Addie at the pumpkin patch. She rode the bus with her class, and was so cute when she saw us. She didn't want to get out of line but you could tell she wanted to run over and give us a hug. I walked over to her and Ashton stood in line with her. Addie took her hand and they walked together to their designated eating area.We started off our field trip eating lunch. Ashton and Addie both wanted lunchables. After lunch, we headed over to play and wait for our turn to go on the hayride. They had lots of fun activities to do while we waited.Always love the little hay maze and the jail area. Too cute! And they have a fun park with monkey bars, swings and jungle gyms. Then it was our turn to go on the hayride. All of Mrs. Eason's class squeezed onto the hay bails.
Addie found a beautiful pumpkin that was just her size! We had so much fun spending the day with Addie and her classmates. Going to the pumpkin patch always gets me in the spirit of Halloween!

Fall Break in Branson, MO

For fall break this year, I took the kids to Branson, MO. After all the golf benefits Randy put on this year, he is almost out of vacation! But we didn't let that slow us down... we gave him hugs and kisses and took off without him. As soon as we got all checked in, the kids started rummaging through their suitcases for their favorite item of clothing- their swimsuits! We took advantage of the indoor pool almost everyday!I did bring with me some extra helping hands! My sister-in-law, Jen, had her brother (Stephen) and sister (Amanda) visiting from Tennessee. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to let them see some more of this part of the country and selfishly get some fun people that my kids could hang out with! They didn't disappoint! My kids had a blast with them! My brother, Jordan, was also running low on vacation so we left him behind too. Sorry, boys! Maybe next year!I also brought along my mom, who is always a big help with the kids! I was excited to get her back out to Branson as it has been years since she has been there. It has really changed a lot in the last few years! Vacation is not for catching up on sleep! We stayed up late every night. This was one of our movie nights!
We also did a lot of shopping. Branson has some great outlet malls. We spent the next day shopping til we dropped! Then we headed back to our condo so Avery could make some bracelets at the clubhouse. After that, they played miniture golf while my mom and I took the younger girls to the park. The weather was beautiful the whole weekend. We spent a lot of time outdoors at the park, or miniature golfing, or playing horseshoe or basketball at the lodge.
That night we had tickets to go see the Duttons. I could tell that Jen wasn't quite sure about going to a show. She was asking a lot of skeptical questions. I kept reassuring her that I was told it was a good show but inside I was praying that it really would be good since I hadn't seen them before either. However, I can now say as one having seen the show that they are AMAZING and HILARIOUS!!! Jen agrees :-) We had so much fun! It was a show for all ages- the kids loved it. Avery, however, was feeling under the weather (in fact she threw up in the van on the way home from the show). Ashton even sat there intently watching... until she fell asleep! The show didn't start until 8pm which happens to be her normal bedtime. Poor girl didn't even get a nap the whole weekend. She didn't want to miss out on anything.Addie, was the funniest at the show. She must have been missing daddy or something. One of the Duttons would come out dressed as his "twin cousin" from Spain. He was so funny, I was laughing so hard at what he was saying and what he was doing. But Addie would get so mad at me and tell me to stop laughing. She would put her hands over her ears if I laughed or put her hands over my mouth and tell me to stop. Finally I said, "Addie, he's funny, look at him." She looked at me sternly and said, "Don't laugh at him, mom, you're not his wife!" I guess I'm not suppose to think anyone is more funny than her dad!Our next day we went to downtown Branson to do some shopping at Branson Landing. The kids loved hanging out at the fountains. The water went along with music and at the end of some of the songs the brown pipes you can see in the water would blow out fire... that was super cool!
We usually split up when we went shopping and Avery always went with the big kids to shop. She is growing up so fast! It was cute because on this day she really wanted to buy something for her dad. She was feeling better after getting some rest the night before. I think she was car sick from all the twisty and hilly roads of Branson. After going back to do some more crafts, bingo and swimming at the lodge, we went out for a fun night of go-carting! Poor Ashton wasn't big enough to go, but she was a good sport (most of the time). Addie just made the cut-off and she road with me the first time and then Jen the second time. She was adorable- she really thought she was big stuff! We went on the go-cart track that twirled up high off the ground. She would hold on like she was driving and every time she passed the look-out tower she would wave. It was super cute!Austin road with Jen one time and Stephen one time. This was definitely a highlight for Jen, Amanda and Stephen... they rode three times!! We were leaving the next day so they wanted to get all the fun in that they could! Our last morning Jen was in the shower and all of a sudden the water stopped. Luckily she had just finished rinsing her hair out! We had trouble with our water tank the whole time, but this took the cake! Amanda went outside and told us that it was flooding. I guess a water line broke under the pavement. You can see the crack in the cement where the water was coming out. That parking spot is actually where my car was sitting! I had Stephen go out and move my car. It was crazy- but luckily we were leaving anyway!
This might look like a beautiful waterfall, but it was actually going to the bottom apartments in the building! Stephen was so excited that there was some crazy excitement going on! We aim to please! All in all, it was a great weekend getaway that we all needed! Now, it's time to go home and catch up on some sleep!

Family Arts Festival

Avery and Austin both brought home notes from their art teacher saying that they each had art pieces chosen to be part of the Family Arts Festival down at the Price Tower Art Center.
So we headed down to our Price Tower. It is one of the many downtown buildings that I have always been proud of in our little local town. For architects, it's pretty special. It is Frank Lloyd Wright's only realized skyscraper and it serves as a museum but also has a couple floors designated as hotel rooms and there is also a bar on one of the floors. Very cool.
We had fun finding the kids artwork. Avery's picture is up at the very top- if you can't tell by her pointing! Super cute Avery! Fun bright colors!
And here is Austin's alien! If you can see it, the alien is made out of Austin's name, mirrored. He wrote his name and then had to figure out what to make out of it. Very creative! Good job, Austin!

Bruin Mile

This year, Austin and Avery both chose to run the Bruin Mile. I think this is a great activity to get the kids running both for their health and for soccer! However, I only found out about when the mile was going to be a week in advance this year, so not much training!I was glad that Austin chose to participate this year. This event is mainly for 4th and 5th graders, but Avery ran last year and Austin decided to give it a go this year. He did awesome! I was super surprised that he came in as early as he did. And even more surprised that he kicked into full sprint in the last stretch! Way to go Bud!Avery did awesome also! She was a little more nervous because last year she was one of the older kids in the group and this year she was racing with 5th graders. But I just kept telling her as long as she finished, that was all I cared about! But she did more than just finish, she raced great! It was fun to see so many of her soccer friends at the front of the race along with her. We told them all that they have the speed, now they just need to get the ball skills together and they will have the complete package! It was a great afternoon!

National Walk-to-School Day!!

The kids were so excited to participate in the National Walk to School Day. I thought it was a great idea, so we hit the road! We had our sweet friend, Kate, this day so I borrowed a double stroller from one of my friends. Thanks, Amy! My kids would have been so sad if they didn't get to do this!
There was one problem area, a four-lane highway that we would have to cross. It was making us all nervous, but luckily there was a policeman sitting in the parking lot where we were wanting to cross. I went over to him to make sure it was okay to cross there (I didn't want to jaywalk right in front of him). He said, "sure, let me help you". Next thing we knew he was turning on his light and pulling out across all the lanes so we could pass! The kids thought that was so cool! It was a fun experience and none of them complained! Austin did say "let's not do this again." I laughed and told him we wouldn't do it again until next year!

United Way Golf Tournament

Seven years ago, not long after coming on full-time at ConocoPhillips, Randy was approached by a friend, Sid Bassett, (who was also influential in getting Randy into ConocoPhillips) to head up the United Way Golf Tournament. Sid was too busy and he knew Randy was a golfer and could do a great job. Little did he know that he was giving Randy his favorite project to date. This tournament became Randy's "baby". Seven years ago, the tournament was one afternoon, and raised $7,000. Last year, he turned it into a 2 1/2 day tournament and raised $105,000. Each year I have been blown away with the increase of people, money and respect he is given with the work he does. However, it was also told to us last year that this year would be Randy's last year to head up the event. The company would like people to know Randy by other things than the golf tournament. It was bittersweet, but we understand that he has so much more to offer and can create greatness wherever he focuses his talents.

I have only heard second-hand at how great his tournaments are, but this being his final year, I decided to take a look at it myself! Ashton and I came up two different days to have lunch with Randy and hang out at the golf course. The first day he was playing a couple rounds with a group so he told us to hang out up by the club house and he would be pulling up in a red cart. I wasn't sure what kind of cart he was in since I knew the course only had white carts. I was thinking maybe an old beverage cart or something. I knew they were low on golf carts so I figured he would just take whatever they had that worked since he needed something to ride around in to oversee everything. But I guess they brought in a cart just for Randy! Super cute! I wanted to take it home with us so bad! Our neighbor actually has a golf cart and rides it around sometimes and will even take our kids around the neighborhood on it. Anyway, I just had to take a picture of it!

Ashton and I did a lot of hanging around. She got pretty comfortable out there! And of course she was the talk of the tournament- everyone thought she was so cute! Her favorite thing to do was swing on the swings under the trees and play games on my phone. The weather was beautiful! The past two years we were supposed to have gotten rain every day of the tournament. The kids and I have truly learned the meaning of faith as we have prayed so hard for the rain to not stop daddy's tournament. Last year it rained in all the surrounding towns except Bartlesville, and as they were packing up the last day it started pouring. This year it rained as they set up, and one evening we had a major thunderstorm, but the days were sunny! My faith has truly been strengthened and I tried to use it as a teaching tool for my children as well. But back to the tournament, not alot of people knew who I was so I overheard a lot of conversations. Everyone was saying how amazed they were and how it was the best tournament they had ever been to. It was great to hear all the positive feedback. Those who I was introduced to told me first-hand how great Randy is at this and how he should make it his profession. I'm very proud of my husband.

So Randy's seventh and final year of heading up the golf tournament is now over... without a hitch! It takes a lot out of him. It's basically a week of set-up, golfing, receptions, banquets and us not seeing him (with the exception of Ashton and I who got to go up to the golf course) and then a weekend for him to recover from lack of sleep and heat exhaustion. This year he expanded, yet again, the tournament (as it sells out before opening up to the public!) This year it was three full days and they raised $160,000!! Quite a run, my dear! I have loved watching you create this prestigious event. It has become the talk of the town and I'm so proud of you! I know you can achieve anything and I will always be right there supporting and rooting you on! Love you so much!

Coraling the Kids

Just a few more pictures of the kids in the coral. Is it a coral? I don't know! I think it's the area where you break horses... what do I know! I just had my camera and was taking pictures- here's Avery!
Now- Austin and Tanner probably need to be in this place! Those crazy boys... crazy but so darn cute!
We had to wake up Addie to go out there and it took her a while to warm up. But she got her smile going finally!
And our little AJ McKay! You can see just how dirty they were getting if you look at her shirt! But it was worth it! A great night with great friends and family!
